Emergency Aid is a benefit established by the Federal Government with the aim of helping informal workers, micro-entrepreneurs, self-employed people and low-income families with monthly financial assistance of R$ 600 during the pandemic.

Created during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, where many people had to adapt to be able to maintain their business and even their companies, the aid helped maintain the income of many Brazilians.

Therefore, all those who are informal workers, self-employed people, individual micro-entrepreneurs and also members of needy families who do not have an income exceeding one and a half minimum wages are already registered to receive Emergency Aid.

However, only those who registered in 2020 may be entitled to continue receiving this benefit as new registrations for 2021 Emergency Aid are not being accepted this year.

How does the 2021 Emergency Aid work?

According to Provisional Measure 1,039/2021, only one person from each registered family will be able to receive Emergency Aid in 2021.

The portion of the benefit should be divided as follows: part will go to female heads of households with a value of approximately R$ 375.00.

Those who are part of low-income families and who live alone will be able to receive around R$ 150.00. And for those who work as micro-entrepreneurs, self-employed people and informal workers, they will be able to receive an amount of R$ 250.00.

However, to receive Emergency Aid for 2021 it is necessary to meet certain requirements.

For example, being over 18 years old, not having a formal job and having a family income of no more than half the minimum wage and not having a family member earning more than three minimum wages.

Those who already receive aid from the Bolsa Família Program can request Emergency Aid, as long as it is a higher amount than they already receive in subsistence assistance under the social program. This way, the person receiving the benefit chooses which of the two they prefer to receive. Furthermore, the Emergency Aid installments already fall directly into the Bolsa Família account.

How do I know if I will receive Emergency Aid in 2021?

For those who are unsure whether they will be able to receive the 2021 Emergency Aid installments, they should wait for Dataprev, which, through an analysis, will inform who will be able to receive the benefit in 2021, which will be available from April to December 2021.

You can also make a query on the Dataprev website to check whether you or a family member will receive the benefit, providing your personal data, such as CPF, parents' names, full name and date of birth.

Those who have already signed up to receive Emergency Aid in 2020 can access the Caixa Tem app, available for iOS and Android, and check whether the installments have been deposited into their account.

How to check the 2021 Emergency Aid calendar?

With the scheduled dates for payment of the 2021 Emergency Aid installment, the calendar is available on the Caixa website. And as of April, several Brazilians have already started receiving a portion of this aid.

And, at the end of April, families who receive some type of government aid in social programs, such as Bolsa Família, and also those born in September can now withdraw a portion, if they have NIS from the Bolsa Família card with the end 6 to 0. After that, withdrawals will be made available to people who were born in the months of June, July and August and so on.
