Bolsa Família aims to provide income distribution and combat hunger in Brazil and also guarantee food security, education and access to public services, such as consultations at health centers, places in public schools, basic food baskets, discounts on electricity, water and others.

Who is entitled to participate in Bolsa Família?

Low-income and poverty-stricken families who have a monthly income between R$ 89.00 and R$ 178.00 and who are in a helpless situation have the right to receive assistance from Bolsa Família.

How to register for Bolsa Família?

To register for the Bolsa Família Program, you must fulfill the requirements mentioned above and contact the sector responsible for social programs in your region, having all family members' documents on hand, along with proof of income.
In some regions of Brazil, the sector responsible for registering families in Bolsa Família is carried out by the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS).

When the registration is approved, a letter is sent to the address informing that the family is part of the Bolsa Família Program. As well as all instructions on how to use the Bolsa Família card and withdraw the benefit at one of the Caixa branches.
