The PIS-PASEP Fund is the result of the unification of funds from the Social Integration Program – PIS It's from Public Servant Heritage Training Program – Pasep.

Unification was established by Complementary Law nº 26, of September 11, 1975, effective from July 1, 1976, regulated by Decree nº 78,276/1976, and today managed by Decree nº 4,751 of June 17, 2003.

Until 10/04/1988, employers made contributions that were received by the PIS/Pasep Participation Fund, which distributed amounts to employees, as quotas proportional to salary and length of service.?

Since then, PIS-PASEP has not included collections for individual accounts. Furthermore, art. 239 of the Federal Constitution changed the destination of resources from contributions to PIS/Pasep, and these started to be collected by the FAT – Workers Support Fund, to fund the Unemployment Insurance Program, the Salary Allowance and the financing of Economic Development Programs by the National Bank for Economic and Social Development – BNDES.

In short:

PIS

Through Complementary Law No. 7/1970, the Social Integration Program (PIS) was created. The program integrated private sector employees with company development. Since payment of PIS is the responsibility of Caixa Econômica Federal.

With PIS, employees of private companies have access to certain benefits and contribute to the development of companies in this sector.

PASEP

Along with the creation of the PIS, Complementary Law No. 8/1970 established the Public Servant Assets Formation Program (PASEP). The Union, States, Municipalities, Federal District and territories contributed to the fund destined for public sector employees (which includes public workers). PASEP payment is made by Bank of Brazil.?

Reasons for?? withdraw PIS/Pasep

The amounts deposited relating to PIS/Pasep, distributed by companies to employees who were registered in the program between 197 and 10/04/1988, are available for withdrawal, when the payment schedule, regardless of the holder's birthday.

It is then necessary to meet one of the following reasons provided for by law:

  • All beneficiaries, in accordance with Law 13,932/2019;
  • Retirement;
  • Age equal to or over 60 years old;
  • Disability (of the participant or dependent);
  • Transfer to paid reserve or retirement (in the case of military personnel);
  • Elderly and/or disabled people covered by the Continuous Payment Benefit;
  • Malignant Neoplasm – Cancer – (participant or dependent);
  • AIDS/AIDS (of the participant or dependent);
  • Diseases listed in Interministerial Ordinance MPAS/MS 2,998/2001 (participant or dependent);
  • Death of the participant (situation in which the account balance will be paid to the holder's dependents or successors).
  • Events 27 – Housing Construction/Renovation and 43 – Marriage, which also allowed withdrawal of Quotas, were extinguished as of Complementary Law No. 26/1975 and the 1988 Constitution, respectively.

If one of the requirements mentioned above is met, the PIS/Pasep payment can be made at any time, with the exception of payments due to age, the date of which will be announced shortly.

What identification documents are accepted for withdrawal?

• ID card;
• Driving License (new model);
• Functional Card recognized by Decree;
• Military Identity;
• Foreigners’ Identity Card;
• Passport issued in Brazil or abroad.
