O IPVA (Tax on Motor Vehicle Ownership) is a tax charged annually by Brazilian states.

Around 20% of the value is allocated to the Fundeb (Basic Education Maintenance and Development Fund and Valorization of Education Professionals) the remainder, approximately 50% of the amount collected is allocated to the state and the other half to the municipality where the car is present.

This percentage that goes to the state is directed to the areas of health, education, public safety and infrastructure.
